Ava Hunnings Obituary

Mrs. Ava Jones Hunnings, age 68, of Pascagoula, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in Helena, Mississippi.  Ava was a member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula, MS.  She was born on October 29, 1950 in Laurel, MS.

Ava loved spending weekends with her big brother, RM Jones.  The bond she shared with her brother was like no other.  The laughter, when the two were together was non-stop and contagious.  She had a passion for the beach and shelling, and over the years acquired a massive shell collection.  The beach was her happy place.  Spending time with her childhood friends, Charlotte Orsborn and Rita Leasure brought so much joy to her life.  They shared many adventures, such as:  Beach trips, weekly summer parties, and at the age of 66 sealed their bond with matching "Sisters" tattoos.

She shamelessly doted over her grandson, Tyler Hunnings and showed him true unconditional love.  She cheered for him at football games and other school functions; usually, the loudest in the crowd.

One of her great joys in recent years was being "Nana Ava" to Layden, Corbin, Nolan, and Kaylen Gonzales, Kinsley, Adalyn Parker, and Noah Parker, and Levi Davis.  She lit up, when any of her babies walked into a room.

Ava's love for her family, zest for life, magnetic blue eyes and smile will forever be in our hearts.  She will be missed, and our hearts will forever be a little heavier, until we see her again.

Ava was preceded in death by:  Her parents, Avice Baggett and Otis Jones; the love of her life, husband, Clayton Hunnings; her cherished son, David Hunnings; two very dear sisters, Carolyn Rose Hamilton and Betty Morris; and lifelong friends, Joan and Linda Green.

She leaves a legacy of love to her surviving family members:  Brother, RM (Debbie) Jones; daughters, Laura Hunnings, Pamela Cravero, and Denise Hunnings; grandsons, Tyler Hunnings, Casey Collins, and Ryan Cravero; two great-grandchildren, numerous of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Many heartfelt thanks to Singing River Cancer Center, Hospice of Light, Clara Sandford of Clara's Personal Care Home, and her loving staff for all of their great care, compassion, and support.
