Debra Jean Kerr, 63, of Gautier, Mississippi, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018, at Singing River Hospital, in Pascagoula, MS. Debra was born March 5, 1955, in Portsmouth, VA, to the late Charles L. Kerr and Dorothy Stephens Kerr. Debra was an active member of the Gautier Presbyterian Church.
Known as Debbie to many, she and her late mother were very active in Girls Scouting. Debbie loved her dog, Daisy and Claire Bell. Debbie loved playing Bingo and Spades with her family and friends. She was known for her skills at playing Spades. Debbie was known for never meeting a stranger and loved everybody. She brought joy to everyone around her.
Debbie was proceeded in death by her father, Charles L. “Chuck” Kerr, her mother, Dorothy Bernice Stephens Kerr, her baby sister Brenda K. Kerr, brother in law Leslie S. “Big Brother” Chase and Grandparents, Claude J. and Lela Stephens and Orville L. and Rose Kerr and step Grandmother Mary G. Kerr.
Debbie is survived by her sister, Barbara S. “Bobbie” Chase of Gautier and sister and brother in law Carolyn L. and John J. Gaffney, of Pascagoula, two nieces, Stephanie L. Legrone and husband AJ Legrone, of Mobile, AL, and Kristy M. Gaffney, of Pascagoula, a great nephew, Archer Chase Legrone and three great nieces, Selena R. Robinson, Victoria Maria Gaffney and Makailyn L. Gaffney.
A Celebration of the Life of Debbie will take place on Thursday, September 6, 2018, from 10 AM to 12PM at the Gautier Presbyterian Church. The celebration will be conducted by Pastor Jesse Shackelford, Jr.
Debbie’s family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the medical professionals who have known and cared for her over the years and the Presbyterian Church members helping to make this celebration.
