John Wendell Lucas left this earthy life on Sunday November 4, 2018 at his home in Pascagoula Mississippi surrounded by his loving family. He had suffered from an extended illness.
Johnny was born on June 17, 1956 to parents Doris and Ruby Lucas in Lucedale, Mississippi. He is the ninth child born in a family of thirteen children. As a young man, he enjoyed playing Little League baseball. While in school, he worked as a city recreational activity specialist helping the youth of Moss Point. He attended Moss Point High School. He married Cynthia Reneé Redmond on July 24, 1991. He was employed by Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding Corporation for 38 years. He worked as a rigger and expert seamster making covers and tool bags. He loved watching college and professional football on television. Even though he was an avid Dallas cowboy fan but he did love it when the New Orleans Saints won games. And his favorite, Notre Dame.
Johnny is deeply loved by family and friends. He will be sorely missed by all. Johnny is best known for his sense of humor and his ability to make you feel extra special. He is just about everyone’s favorite uncle .
Johnny is survived by his loving wife Cynthia Reneé Redmond Lucas and his five children - Virginia Lucas Byrd (John) of Moss Point Mississippi , Melissa Lucas Lee (Daniel) of Helena , Mississippi, Derek, Joni , and Aaron Lucas of Pascagoula, Mississippi.
He leaves behind four grandchildren-Bryton and Makinly Lee, Brianna and Haleigh Byrd.

Johnny was an active member of the New Life Church, Moss Point, Mississippi. To honor him, a Celebration of Life memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at New Life Church 9720 US Highway 90 , Moss Point, Mississippi with Pastor Lavoy Hart officiating.
