Thomas Byron Thrasher

Thomas Byron Thrasher, “Dr. Tom” or “Doc” to anyone who knew him, passed away in Pascagoula, MS on September 26, 2017 at the age of 83.

Mr. Thrasher is predeceased by his mother and father, Belle Booker-Thrasher and Claude Thrasher; brother Lloyd Thrasher; brother James Thrasher; and sister Elizabeth Thrasher-Cosson. 

Dr. Tom is survived by his loving companion Ms Carrie Hardy of Moss Point, MS.  

Mr. Thrasher is lovingly remembered by his children Thomas Phillips and spouse Krissy, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; daughter Yvonne Raden and spouse David of Kingsport, TN; daughter Rebecca Holland and spouse James of Martinez, GA; son Barry Thrasher and spouse Laurie of Pascagoula, MS; and daughter Rhonda Kvech and spouse Michael of Renton, WA.

He is survived by 10 grand-children and 4 great grand-children who all knew him as “Papoo” and loved him dearly.

He is also survived by his brothers Herbert Thrasher of Georgia and Donald Thrasher of Florida and close friend Debra Umbrello and spouse John of Moss Point, MS.

Dr. Tom was born on September 23, 1934 in Pensacola, FL. He graduated from Pensacola High School.  He served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. He later worked at Ingalls Shipbuilding for over 23 years and many other shipbuilders throughout his career.

Doc enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He always wanted to be outside and took pride in everything he did including his garden and yard.

The memorial service will be held at Parkway Baptist Church located at 2690 Jefferson Ave. Moss Point, MS. on October 28, 2017 at 10 am. Prayers will be offered from family members and friend, Johnny Nations, during this time.

A celebration of life reception will take place on October 28 at 2:00 PM at The Grand Magnolia, 3604 Magnolia St., Pascagoula, MS.
