Abby Spurrier, of Gautier, MS, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
Born on April 22, 1952, in Pleasant City, OH, to Albert and Edna Spurrier. She attended Shenandoah High School, and worked as a Hotel Feasibility Consultant for over 30 years.
Abby was passionate about needlepointing, spending time with her grandchildren, her love of animals, baking pies, learning new recipes, and her love of the hotel industry where she was well known for her knowledge and completion of over 3k studies.
Abby owned her own consultation business for over 30years, doing Hotel Feasibility Studies where she worked with numerous hotel representatives, whom all loved her dearly. Before owning her business, she worked for Beneficial as a manager, followed by being a real estate broker in California and Arizona. She donated regularly to Samaritan's Purse, a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization dedicated to providing international disaster relief, humanitarian aid, and physical/spiritual support to victims of war, disease, and poverty. She is remembered for her feisty, spitfire attitude, almost stubborn determination, her huge heart and helping people. She had a wealth of knowledge. Some may say she was a walking encyclopedia, as she was extremely intelligent. Her legacy in the hotel industry is very well known and will be carried on.
Abby is survived by husband Bill Bucklew(47 years), adopted son Joe Simone, daughter Kristin Bucklew (James Swanson), granddaughters Gracelyn, Lilyaunna and Kylie, as well as her furry and winged babies, Ruby Faye and Sir WeeJack, and many fowl. She is also remembered by numerous family members and many bonus children, whom she loved like her own.
She was preceded in death by parents, Albert and Edna Spurrier, and sister Penny S. Manahan, adopted son Scott Oliver, amongst other family members, and fur babies Lola Faye and Lucky Boy.
A small, private Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later time. Contact Kristin for further information.
