Audrey Lee Breland, 57, of Hurley, Mississippi, passed away on September 22, 2025,
surrounded by her loving family. She fought bravely after suffering a massive heart attack, and
her big, giving heart stayed with us as long as it could.
Born on August 13, 1968, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, to Al and Kay Valentine, Audrey grew up
with a love for people, the outdoors, and her community. From a young age, she was a
headstrong little girl who loved spending time on the river, playing ball, or being with friends.
She graduated from East Central High School in 1986 and went on to dedicate over 25 years to
her community as a school bus driver and janitor. Audrey cared deeply for the children she
transported and the families she served, always ensuring their safety and well-being. She gave
her all to others, yet still found time to enjoy the things she loved most with those she loved
most.
Audrey is survived by her devoted husband of 10 years, Dewayne Breland; her children, Will
Foster and Lin Foster; her parents, Al and Kay Valentine; four grandchildren; her brother; seven
beloved dogs; and many more friends and family who will cherish her memory.
Audrey will be remembered for her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and, above all, her
generous heart. She loved being on the water, whether fishing, floundering, or even trying her
hand at shrimping. Music was always part of her life, even if she couldn’t carry a tune or
remember all the lyrics; she sang anyway and made it joyful. She adored her mother, with whom
she shared an unbreakable bond, and together they were a pair like no other at the school.
Audrey’s love language was quality time and giving through gifts, acts of service, or simply
showing up. The outpouring of support from her community is a testament to the lives she
touched.
A celebration of Audrey’s life will be held at The Point, Pascagoula Beach, on Saturday, October
4, 2025, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local pet
shelter in her name. Audrey was never fond of flowers, but she had a soft spot for every “fur
baby.”
“There’s so much I want to say, and even more I wanted to do. My mom was my first love. She
was my rock, always keeping me grounded and making sure I felt safe. There isn’t a doubt in
my mind that she would have moved Heaven and Earth for me if I’d asked her to, because
that’s who she was and how she made me feel. I don’t know how or when, but I believe we’ll get
the chance to say and do all that and more someday. And as she’d always say, ‘It’s a date!’ Until
then, I love you with every fiber of my being, and I will miss you dearly, my love.” – Your Baby
Girl, Lin
