Carol Denise Ellis Mello, 66, of Pascagoula, MS, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on September 11, 1958, in Laurel, MS, Carol was a kind and giving woman who devoted her life to those she loved. Known for her strength and resilience, she faced her battle with cancer with courage and grace. A true survivor, she never allowed hardships to dim her spirit and continued to give of herself fully to her family and friends. Her greatest joy was her family, and she will be remembered for her generosity, compassion, and unwavering love.
Carol also found joy in the simple things that made life rich. She loved tending her garden, could often be found with a good book in hand, and had a gift for creativity—there wasn’t a yarn or thread hobby she couldn’t master. Her talents and passions filled her home with beauty and warmth, and she shared that same light with everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Tony Mello of Mobile, AL; her children, Jennifer Walker (David), Brandon Miller (Alicia), Anthony Mello (Shonta), and Scott Mello (Kay); her grandchildren, Brittni Aponte (Axel), Katelyn Mello, Amber Mello, Aiden Miller, Carson Tubb, Anthony “Buddy” Mello, Tristan Miller, Levi Miller, Mary Tubb, Maya Miller, Mason Miller, Liam Miller, Jack Miller, and Tayt Miller; and her great-grandchildren, Jayden Mello, Klaire Aponte, and Xavier Aponte. She is also survived by her mother, Maurice Ellis; her brother, Jimmy Ellis (Lisa); her nieces, Brittnay Chausse (Nathan) and Ryan Spires (Billy); her nephew, Chad Ellis; and her aunt, Ouida Cochran.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Ellis; her brother, David Ellis; and her uncle, Willis Cochran.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Eastlawn United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, following a visitation at 10:00 a.m. In honor of Carol’s vibrant spirit and her love of color, the family kindly requests that attendees wear their brightest and most joyful colors.
