David Wright

Reverend David Lee Wright a native of Joplin, Missouri and resident of Biloxi, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 22, 2023, surrounded by family. David was born to Freddie and Oleta Wright in Aurora Missouri, on August 6, 1949. 

David was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War. He retired as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of faithful service.

David was preceded in death by the mother of his children Janice Bittick Wright, his parents Reverend Freddie and Oleta Wright, and sisters Esther Lawellin and Brenda Richards. He is survived by his daughter Vanessa (Michael) Grabber of Fredericksburg, VA; sons Brian Wright of Nashville, TN, and Jonathan Wright of Biloxi, MS; sister Pamela Backerman; most importantly his 3 grandchildren (Papa or George as he was known) Benjamin, David, and William; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

A memorial service will be held on November 20, 2023, at 2:30 pm at the Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors. 

The family would like to express their gratitude to the nursing staff on 1 Southeast at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula and Hospice of Light for the compassion and care they showed during his final days.
