David Lynn “Dave” “Pappy” Culpepper
Sunrise July 12, 1962 Sunset November 27, 2025
Dave was the hardest working man you will ever meet, but the work was not hard for him because he did what he loved every day. The only thing Dave loved more than volleyball was his family. He never went to a beach he didn’t love and never met a stranger. If there was sand between his toes and had his sons at his side, there was a smile on his face. His loyalty was second to none. He listened with his heart, always forgave and made everyone feel important and loved. Dave’s unique sense of style and color combinations along with his gregarious personality filled the room. Dave was truly “one of a kind” and will be sorely missed.
Preceded in death by his parents, William “Joe” and Betty Culpepper.
Survived by his children and grandchildren Ryan (Kayden) Culpepper, Joel (Natasha Johnson) Culpepper, Gabe Gonzales, Pri (Mila) Piantadosi-Lima. Siblings Dr. William “Joel” (Nancy) Culpepper, Clayton (Renee’) Culpepper, Delesa Culpepper, and Ellis Gorden. Nieces and nephews Adam Wesenten, Cristena (Chris) Wierson, Dalton, (Chloe, Ozzy) Culpepper, Brandon (Oliva) Walters, Dr. C. Ashton Walters (Scott) Tierney. And many more he called brother (Scott Moore, Derek Zimmerman, Dan Diehl) and countless friends.
Per Dave’s wishes, a volleyball tournament and celebration, the Dave Culpepper Memorial Open, will be held at White Sands Volleyball Complex/Seeger’s Sand Bar, which is being planned for this upcoming Spring. Dates and details will be provided once confirmed.
