Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Delores E. Rodgers

July 23, 1946 – April 23, 2025

Mrs. Delores E. Rodgers was born on July 23, 1946, in Jackson, Mississippi, to the late William O. Jackson, Sr. and Eliza Bell Austin. She was the ninth of eleven children, each of whom she now rejoins in eternal peace.

From a young age, Delores embraced her faith, accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior—a devotion she carried gracefully throughout her life’s journey.

In 1962, Delores married Clifford Odoms, Sr., and together they built a loving family, raising four beautiful children: Carmen, Patricia, Patrick, and Clifford.

Years later, in 1994, she found love again and married William Rodgers. Both husbands preceded her in death, but the love and memories they shared stayed forever close to her heart.

Delores attended Jim Hill School and later earned her Associate of Arts degree from Compton Community College.

Her career reflected her nurturing spirit. For many years, she worked as a devoted teacher’s aide, supporting students with disabilities and special needs at both the Jackson School District and the Long Beach Unified School District in California. She retired proudly at the age of 62, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, patience, and compassion.

Delores lived her life as an adventure—full of passion, laughter, and discovery. She loved traveling, exploring new recipes, trying new restaurants, and spending quiet moments reading her scriptures, solving crossword puzzles, or coloring. Her smile could light up any room, and her spirit brought warmth to everyone she met.

Above all, Delores was the heart of her family—the rock they leaned on, the voice of wisdom, and the soul of their gatherings. She loved deeply and unconditionally, cherishing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all her heart.

On April 23, 2025, Delores peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home, reunited with her parents and beloved siblings: William Jackson Jr., Myrtha, Eddie W. Jackson, Earlen Watties, Dorothy Hudson, Nancy Tarvin, Jean Tonis, Daisy Jackson, and Wilton and Milton Jackson.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength carried on by her loving children: daughter Carmen and son Clifford; her treasured grandchildren: Shavonne Bramllett, Jeremiah Scott, James Scott, Chelsea (Taurian)  Haynes, Tymaris Odoms, and Zack Odoms; and her adored great-grandchildren: Chantel Bramlett, Antonio Bramllett, Jania Odoms, Makya Odoms, Taylor Haynes, and Paislee Haynes. A host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends also mourn her passing and celebrate the beautiful life she lived.

Special Tribute

To us, Auntie was more than family—she was a quiet refuge in stormy times, a wise counselor, and the keeper of laughter and love.
