Dennis Spencer

Mr. Dennis Jay (DJ) Spencer, of Colorado Springs, CO; formerly Albuquerque, New Mexico; and recent two year resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi went home to be with our Lord and Savior on June 22, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James & Barbara Spencer, formerly of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Dennis is survived by his doting wife Amanda Gentile Spencer, 9 yr old son Kameron Gentile Spencer, stepchildren Ashton & Angelina Gentile, adult children Alice & Dylan Spencer and their mother Lorraine Spencer, his brothers Randall & Jeffery Spencer, along with many other close family members. 

Mr. Dennis Spencer was a long-time respected musician and bassist in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and recently the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. Dennis was a proud graduate The University of New Mexico and was an avid Lobos, Colorado Rockies & Avalanche fan and loved all sports. 

Over the years Dennis worked for Honeywell and Collins Aerospace, and in later years taught high school math for District 49; he was a favorite substitute teacher at Sand Creek High school. He was known as a well-rounded high energy musician, DJ played bass in worship teams for over a decade and went on to be a multi-night full band jam host; performing in a wide variety of genres in many bands over the years. DJ enjoyed attending Arlington Baptist Church in Pascagoula with his family, helping with the two Pascagoula based family businesses, traveling, fine dining, and supporting live music and charity events. DJ was an amazingly loving husband and father who prided himself on being active with his children at their schools, practicing for sports, music and attending church events. 

Dennis and his wife had recently relocated to Ocean Springs, Mississippi to enjoy a warmer lifestyle close to live music and the beach. On June 16th 2022 heart failure resulted in a tragic car accident on Market Street in Pascagoula and for the following six days he was on this earth clinging to life. His family was able to say their goodbyes, friends visited, and friends far and wide sent all of their love. He fought hard for his life but on June 22nd just after midnight he took his last breath. Held in the arms of his wife, Amanda, it was known that he went home to be with his parents and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Neuro ICU staff at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, Mississippi did an absolutely amazing job around the clock; saving his life multiple times, trying to keep him stable, and keeping him comfortable. His family will be forever grateful for the efforts and care shown by the staff. 

Dennis (DJ) will be dearly missed by the music community and his entire family forever. Please keep his children in your prayers.
