Donald. R. Hole, 71, of D'Iberville, MS (formally of Piqua, OH and Louisville, KY) passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023.
He was born in June 1952 in Piqua, OH to the late Donald and Barbara Hole.
Don married Debra (Penrod) Hole in July,1971 and she survives.
Don attended Piqua City Schools and graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor's degree in education, and his master's from Wright State University. While in high school, he played basketball where he was a member of the 1968 - 1969 District Championship team. Don started his teaching career at Wilder teaching seventh grade history and geography and would go on to teach at Bennett and Piqua Junior High for over 35 years.
During his teaching career, he also coached boys' and girls' basketball on the junior high and high school levels for over 40 years. He coached varsity Girls Fastpitch Softball for many years where he took teams to the State (Ohio) Finals in 1992 & 1993. Coach was inducted into the Ohio High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame for Girls Fastpitch in 2005.
Coach was an Ohio State Football fan; however, he could always be found watching the latest game, playing cards, and catching up with friends.
Don is survived by his children Lisa (Brian) Deal of Piqua, OH, and Mike (Stacey) Hole of D'Iberville, MS; his grandchildren Laura (Kyle) Boze of Kettering, OH, Kelsey (Kevin) Henry of Bellbrook Twp., OH, and Mikayla Hole of D'Iberville, MS; his great-grandchildren Lincoln and Harper Boze; and brothers in law and sister in law, Dennis, Cindy Penrod, Duane, Tammy Penrod and Deanna Harwood.
Private arrangements have been made and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
