Donald Scott Nettles was born on December 15, 1954 to Willene (Thompson) Nettles and Johnnie Nettles. He grew up in Moss Point, Mississippi where he attended the Moss Point School District. After high school, he acquired employment with Brown & Root for a short period of time. Upon his departure from Brown and Root, he was employed with Pavco better known in his working years are the Veneer Mill. In 1984, Don took the leap of love and entered into holy matrimony with the love of his life, Beverly Ann Richardson. He was a true testament of the portion of the wedding vows “for better or worse, in sickness and health, til death do us part” because he became her devoted caretaker when her health declined, and he remained consistently committed to her health care until death consumed her.
Don had a very charming and friendly personality. He was widely known for his versatility in skills. Not only was he the neighborhood’s “handyman” but he was also a very hard worker who found it hard to decline to help those who required or requested his help. Leading the list for helping others was his devotion to providing care for his family. It was no secret to anyone who knew Don that he loved his wife, children, grand, greats and family. The pride of his last days was moving in with his daughter to help care for his youngest great-grandson. Don was well-loved, and his kind spirit and generous heart won the affection of those
who graced his presence.
Don departed this life on August 3, 2023, which has left an emptiness in the hearts of his family and friends. Preceding him in death are his loving and devoted wife, Beverly Richardson Nettles; a son, Donald Scott Nettles, Jr.; his parents, Willene and Johnnie Nettles; a brother, Freddie Nettles, and a sister, Judy Nettles.
He leaves to forever embrace and cherish his memories his children, LaKisha Nettles, Leslie Richardson, and Sylvester Johnson, all of Pascagoula, MS, and Delante Weston, Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Sariah Nettles, Kinsleigh Nettles, Justice Keys, Ajanae Loper, and Quadarius Colvin; great-grandchildren, Kace Millender, Ayson Porter, and Jacee Loper; brothers, Johnnie Nettles, Pascagoula, MS; Timmie Nettles, Columbus, GA; and George Nettles, Manhattan, NY; sisters, Paula (Dennis) Childs, Oxnard, CA; Alice (Jerry) Brown, Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Trudy Hollings, Moss Point, MS; May (Donald) McKinnis, Dallas, TX; and Willene Jones, Columbus, MS; and a host of other relatives and friends.
