Edna Hodge Obituary

In Loving Memory of Edna Earl James Hodges

Edna Earl James Hodges was born on March 17, 1937, St. Patrick's Day—a fact she always loved and proudly shared with others.
She grew up and spent much of her life in Choctaw County, Alabama, surrounded by family, friends, and a close-knit community. Throughout her working years, she was employed at several manufacturing mills. One of her favorite stories was about working in Toxey, Alabama, where she and her coworkers would dance in the road during their lunch breaks while the local police blocked traffic so they could enjoy themselves. It was a memory that always brought a smile to her face.

Edna grew up with her brother, sisters, and extended family nearby, creating lifelong bonds and cherished memories. Later in life, she moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where she spent the remainder of her years surrounded by dear friends and the family she loved so much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Eula May "Peggy" Mozingo James; her sisters, Cora and Irene Hoffman; and her brother, Jesse James.
Edna is survived by her only daughter, Lori Ivey Bennett (Chad); her grandchildren, Gabby Burdette, Allyson Flynn (Wesley), and Zachery Knight (Mika); and her two great-grandsons, Trystan Fuqua and Logan Burdette.

She is also survived by her nieces, Francine Havard (Lloyd) and Arlene Strickland (Ron); her nephew, Leon James; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many treasured friends and loved ones whose lives she touched throughout the years.

A cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.
