Mr. George Washington Bailey, age 82, was born April 13, 1938, in Lexington, MS to the late Howard Taft Bailey and the late Lillie B Bailey. Mr. George Bailey passed away on January 13, 2021. He was a graduate of Rust College in 1960 majoring in Elementary Education under the Chris Scholarship Program. He had been a longtime resident of California, where he was a dedicated Elementary School teacher within the Los Angeles County School System, until his retirement. Later, George Bailey and his wife, Irma Bailey moved to Pascagoula, MS, and later became a longtime resident of Lyman, MS, until his demise. George Bailey longtime member of First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Randy Davidson. George loved attending church and spending time with his grandchildren, whom he loved so much. He also loved traveling, walking for miles, and eating an array of sweets, mainly pound cake, cookies, and sweet potato pie.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Irma Bailey; his parents, Howard Taft Bailey, and Lillie B Bailey; his sister, Barbara J Moore; brother, James Bailey; stepsons, Stanley Lawrence, Jr., and James Lawrence; and step-grandson, Nicoe McNeal Lawrence.
He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Adimika Bailey, and a devoted step-daughter, Wanda Lawrence; his grandchildren, Jalia Bailey, Dinari Bailey, Imani Lawrence, Ebon Smith, Nashon Smith, Sarah, Valerie, Quincy, and Dean; his sisters, Betty J. Dancy, Bertha M. Jefferson, Mary J. Bailey, Lillian D Moore, Elner Taylor; his brother, Stephen Bailey; his beautiful niece, Deborah Burnett-Brown, along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly; and a special friend, Alice Jackson. George Bailey will truly be missed by his family, church members, and people in his community that shared fond memories of him cutting his grass on his riding lawnmower.
