Jacqueline Gatlin Obituary

Jacqueline Marie Ramey Gatlin, affectionately known as Jackie,” slipped away quietly on May 5, 2020, at Singing River Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. Jackie was born on June 1, 1962, to the late Lee Hubert Rammey and Marie Elizabeth Davis, both of Pascagoula, MS. She was a life long resident of Pascagoula, MS.  She attended Pascagoula High School and was in the class of 1981. She was employed at Huntington Ingalls in Pascagoula as a ship-fitter for 22 years, worked at Kings Inn in Pascagoula, and found joy in volunteering at the Salvation Army, raising money to help others. Jackie united with the Union Baptist Church of Pascagoula. She later joined the Church of Living God, under the leadership of Pastor D.A. Graham, where she was a faithful member until she became ill. Jackie was the life of the party and the Matriarch of the Family. She enjoyed spending time with her family, listening to music, playing bingo, and cards. She was shoulder to cry on and a stern friend. She was the kind of person to tell you what was right no matter how you felt about it. She loved and raised spirits of all those she came into contact with; she made family her main priority.

Jackie was preceded in death by her father, Lee Hubert Rammey, and devoted stepmother, Linda Jones Rammey; daughter, La-Tasha R. Ramey; son, Cornelius R. Ramey; her maternal grandparents, Decon Will Davis and Doris Marie Wright Davis; her paternal grandmother, Alberta Johnson; great-grandmothers, Atherstean Fairley and Lula Tait Horn; aunts, Patricia Davis Tait, Richie (Joe) Clay, and Atherstean Davis Lett; a great-aunt, Blanche Wright McGill; uncles, James Benton, Clarence Smith, and Roland Hinton; brothers, Justin Sharome Davis, Daniel LaPrez Ramey, and Donald Fitzgerald Davis.

She leaves to forever cherish her precious memories: her loving and devoted mother, Marie Elizabeth Davis Ramey; her daughters, LaKeshia Ramey, Tavonka (Bobbie Sr.) Ramey, Charlslynn (Brandon) Ramey, and Sarina Thornton; sons, Charles Ramey and Lonzell Robertson; siblings, Cheryl D. avis, Gwendolyn M. (Reuben) Fields, Alexandria M. (Brian Sr.) Barnes, LaQuita S. Ramey, Jackie Dobbs, Doris M. (Tony) Dorth, Terrence L. (John) Davis, Vincent A. Ramey, Montrell V. (Trey) Ramey, Michael A. (Mike) Davis, and Terry Rammey; grandchildren, Armoni Ramey Kearston Ramey, Nykiyah Ramey, Akyra Golemon, Korbyn Chambers, Hykeem Ramey, and Nicholas Brown; a devoted friend and classmate, Annie Colley; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. Th ere are too many people to name, but we would like to thank each and every one of you for gracing her with your presence, your ear, your hand, and your heart; thanks for sharing with our mom, Jacqueline M. Ramey Gatlin.
