James “Jim” Odell Bowman, 77 of Pascagoula, MS was born January 19, 1941 to John and Juanita Bowman. He passed away on the morning of May 27, 2018. Jim proudly served 8 years in the United States Navy as a diver and Second Class Petty Officer ending his career as a member of the SEAL Team One in 1968. During his career in the Navy he received the Good Conduct Medal with one bronze star, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon. After his service in the Navy, he had a fulfilling career in law enforcement with the City of Pascagoula, MS, where he later retired. Upon retirement, Jim served as a private business owner creating ACE Investigations as a consultant in accident reconstruction and private investigation. Jim was a man of great intelligence, many talents, and a wonderful sense of humor. He was also a very private individual, but highly respected by all around him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Bowman, his father John Bowman, his brother John “Johnny” Bowman Jr., and daughter Darlene Bowman-Hockkenberry. He is survived by his wife Helen Swartzfager, his children James Bowman, Lisa Bowman, David (Michelle) Bowman, and Brian (Misty) Bowman; brothers Dennis Bowman, Donald Bowman, and sister Frances Bowman-Byrd and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives who loved him dearly.
