James "Pop" McMillian Jr., 76, passed away on August 26, 2025. He was born on May 17, 1949, in
Moss Point, Mississippi, to the late Viola and James McMillian Sr. He was also preceded in
death by daughter Monshanda Liddell with a host of his aunts and uncles.
James is survived by his sister, Frizel (Richard) Robertson of Springfield, MA; Aunt Jefflonie
(Willie) McMillian of Monroeville, AL and his three children, Tonya McMillian-Viverette of
Moss Point, MS, LaPriest (Pritannica) McMillian of Jackson, MS, and LaBarron (Christy)
McMillian of Stokesdale, NC; and his six cherished grandchildren, Tyler D. Harris of
Seattle, WA, Glennie M. Viverette of Montgomery, AL, Myles C. McMillian of Stokesdale,
NC, Chelsea O. McMillian of Stokesdale, NC, Chasity Brown of Gautier, MS and Cornelius
Brown of Gautier, MS.
He also leaves behind his nephew, Matthew C. Gordon of (Hawaii) along with close friends
Schrona Hannah and Lawanda Kelley.
James had a lifelong love for basketball and enjoyed watching sports of all kinds. He will be
remembered for his kind and gentle spirit, his love for family, and the joy he shared with
everyone around him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.
