John S Mashburn Jr

John “Jackie” Spurlock, Jr., March 18, 1941 – July 20, 2025

Jack Spurlock Mashburn Jr. entered into eternal rest after a long bout with Alzheimer's and Dementia in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. He grew up in Hammond, Lousisina, and graduated high school in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, in 1958. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sadie Pugh Mashburn, his father, Jack Spurlock Mashburn Sr., siblings Joseph Patton Mashburn Sr., Michael Frederick Mashburn, Helen Janet Mashburn, and Donald Mashburn. He is survived by his loving nephews Kevin Bradley Mashburn, Joseph Patton Mashburn Jr., siblings Timothy Mashburn, Rita Mashburn, William Mashburn, and Richard Mashburn.

Upon finishing high school, Jackie traveled abroad to Europe while serving in the United States Army, where he served as a medic. In addition to his military career, he also spent many years in the Middle East, especially in Israel as a missionary, helping those who were suffering unimaginable trauma in war torn countries. His depth of compassion for making a difference were unmatched by many, and his love for his family were undeniable. He always put the needs of other way ahead of his own. He was passionate in his beliefs and never met a stranger and never missed the opportunity to help someone in need. Service arrangements are incomplete.
