Mr. Joseph Leon Reddix, Sr. was born December 27, 1956, to Rosia Lee Showers and Joseph Lawrence Reddix in Vancleave, MS. Joseph was affectionately called "Joe" and was raised in Biloxi, MS. Later, the family moved to D'Iberville, MS in 1972, where he attended D'Iberville High School and became one of the first Black students to attend and graduated in the Class of 1975. He was a Dual-Sport Athlete in HS, where he starred in basketball and baseball, and was All-State in both sports. Joe loved all sports, but basketball was his favorite. Joe went to Mary Holmes Community College in West Point, MS on an athletic scholarship to play baseball; upon completion, he joined the United States Army. When returning home, Joe became a trucker for five years, but stopped, due to health reasons and began working for IHOP as a prep cook for many years, until his health failed.
