June Merlene Murray was born on August 7, 1954, in Taylorsville, Mississippi. She lived a life defined by love, service, and community. In May 1974, June married her beloved husband, Calvin Murray. Together, they shared a devoted union and raised two daughters, Sonya Murray and Shelia Murray, who were the pride of her life.
June dedicated ten years of service to the Pascagoula–Gautier School District before retiring. Her commitment to education reflected her caring nature and strong work ethic. A woman of faith and fellowship, June was a devoted member of Bible Study Baptist Church. She was also actively involved with the NAACP, the Red Hat Association, and the Quiet Storm Dance Group, where she found joy in advocacy, friendship, and expression.
June Merlene Murray will be remembered for her warm spirit, dedication to family, and lasting impact on her community. Her legacy of love and service will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. June Merlene Murray, daughter of L.B. & Vergie Lee Holloway, peacefully passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, L.B and Vergie Lee Holloway; sisters, Earlene, Jerlene and Hazel; and her beloved husband, Calvin Murray. She leaves behind to cherish her memories; her two daughters, Sonya Brown and Shelia Murray (fiancé of Kevin Gray); four grandchildren: Allieariah, Nyzeiriah, Alexander, and Miracle Brown; her siblings, Mary Ann Haskins, Jimmie and Virgie “Tip” Black, John Earl Holloway, and Joe Holloway, Anthony (Margie) Murray, Alfred Murray, and Gladis; along with a host of loving nieces and nephews. Her warmth, kindness, and devotion to family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
