Mr. Leroy Lee Johnson was born on September 9, 1954, to the late Josephine Johnson and Herron Burks in Mobile, Alabama. He departed this life on August 29, 2025, at Providence Hospital in Mobile, AL.
At an early age, he accepted Christ into his life at Coleman Chapel in Coden, AL. After relocating to Mississippi in 2011, he changed his membership to Olivet Missionary Baptist Church in Moss Point, MS. Leroy was well-known for his hobbies, which included cleaning cars and riding anywhere while well-dressed with shining shoes. He was a proud member of the Class of 1972 at St. Elmo High School. At the age of 18, he began his career working in the shrimp industry across Florida, Alabama, Texas, and Mississippi. In 2011, he started working at Boasage Boat in Pascagoula, Mississippi, until his health declined.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Johnson and Herron Burks; his grandparents; siblings Johnetta, James, Joann, Laurence, and Jimmy; and father-in-laws Charles Jackson and George Fantroy Jr.
He leaves behind cherished memories with his devoted wife of 16 years, Jacqueline Johnson; his son, Zymarrion “Booky”; his daughter, “Lil Mama”; three devoted bonus children, Dennitta (Uriel) Graffree, Labarius Fantroy, and Charles (Ariel) Gildersleeve; three biological children, Shannon (Raymond) Ward, Leroy Murray, and Jeffery Johnson; his mother-in-law, Genetter Jackson and Lois Fantroy; grandchildren Jameya, Chase, Leroy, Ramon, Dorian, Alan, and Alayla; sisters-in-law Shonda Matthews, Brenda Poole, and Dionne (Lyndon) McDonald; and brothers-in-law Charles (Beatriz) Jackson and Louis Banks. He also leaves behind siblings Zettie (Clifton) Bowie, Chantal (Jose) Burks, Laurence (Dorothy) Burks, Michael (Anita) Burks, and Melinda Dotson; his goddaughter Jasmine Martin; his uncle Phillip Johnson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
