Mabel Richardson Obituary

Mrs. Mabel Lessie (Tait) Richardson was born on May 31, 1929, to the late Dewitt Talmage and Willie Ruth (Stanton) Tait in Burnt Corn, Alabama. She received her education in the Monroe County School District.  She was united in holy matrimony with Willie Ray Richardson. This union was blessed with six children.  Her devotion to Christ was exhibited early in life at Bethany Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Higgins. After relocating to Pascagoula, MS, she united with Antioch Baptist Church where she served faithfully in the Mission Department, Willing Workers, Daughters of Zion, and the Mass Choir under the leadership of Rev. L.D. Chapman. She continued her stewardship and faithfulness in the Senior Mission and Mass Choir under the pastoral leadership of Dr. John W. Davis until her health declined. Although she was no longer able to remain active in church, her passion for spiritual commitment never diminished. She enjoyed reading her bible, singing songs of Zion, and giving God praise. It was evident that she loved God, and she encouraged everybody in her presence to get to know Jesus. Her other passion was her membership in the George Washington Carver Court #140 Heroines of Jericho.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents Dewitt Talmage and Willie Ruth (Stanton) Tait; maternal grandparents, Ivan and Abbie Stanton; paternal grandparents, Prince Albert Tait and Rose Anna Tait; two daughters, Synthea and Beverly Ann (Richardson) Nettles; two sons, Willie Ray Richardson, Jr. and Gerald Quinton Richardson; six brothers, William Talmage Tait, Harvey Bernard Tait, Robert Edward Tait, Thomas Quincy Tait, Charles Dewitt Tait and James Vernon Tait; and three sisters, Julia Moore (Tait) McClammey, Eloise Howard (Tait) Ford and Rose Abbie (Tait) Goldsmith.

She leaves to forever hold her memories dear a loving, committed, and devoted daughter, Thea M. Richardson, Pascagoula, MS; two sons, James Alan Richardson, Gautier, MS, and Leslie Raymon Richardson, Pascagoula, MS; son-in-law, Donald Scott Nettles, Pascagoula, MS; daughter-in-law, Sheila Anderson Richardson, Pascagoula, MS; two sisters, Leola Hudson Robinson, Century, FL and Martha Ary Davison, Pascagoula, MS; two sisters-in-law, Sarah Jean Tait, and Mattie Bell Tait, both of Moss Point, MS; eight granddaughters and a loving, devoted, and committed granddaughter, Dr. Megan LaShea Richardson, seven grandsons, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
