Malon Agent Obituary

Malon Devon (Von) Agent Jr. was born on November 27, 1972, and passed away from this life on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025.

Von was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean-Smith Gregory-Agent; his father, Malon Devon Agent Sr.; one sister, Kimberly Gregory Bozeman; one brother-in-law, Robert (Bobby) Scarbrough Sr.; one niece, Amy Gregory; one great-nephew, Todd Marquardt Jr.; and one great-niece, Hope Gregory.

He is survived by two sisters, Gay Gregory Scarbrough and Star Gregory-Waltman; and three brothers, Edward (Karen) Gregory, Loyal (Vicki) Gregory, and Micheal Gregory. He is also survived by his two daughters, Kayla (Judah) Agent and Ashley Devon Agent; and his grandson, Clifton Patrick Liles III.

Von is also survived by his informal adoptive parents, Woodrow and Peggy Shumock; his two sister-wives of different times and of a different meaning, Rachel Shumock-Agent and Amy Leanne Daniels; as well as friends who, over the years, became more than just friends.. They became family. These members include, but are not limited to, Gordon Ross Jr., Ronnie Robinson, and many more.

Toward the end of Von’s life, he came to include Micheal (Todd) Simmons in this list of family members. Todd was there for Von when others were not, from driving him to and from the hospital on several occasions to simply coming to get him and spending time together for a day or two. He took him riding around and to the casinos. Von truly appreciated their friendship and regarded Todd as a true brother. Todd was with him on the ride that proved to be Von’s last.

Malon Devon Agent Jr. is also survived by countless other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and others he loved and regarded as his own children and grandchildren.

Von will be forever missed by all who knew him. He was truly one of a kind. He did not excuse nor defend who he was, nor did he wish to change for anyone or anything. He did not hide behind a false façade like so many do. He was simply himself, through and through. There is something to be said for the honesty with which he lived. Von was simply Von, true and simple.

Never pompous or showy, not flashy or judgmental, Von used the same size blinders and the same colored glasses for everyone that he used for himself. He saw people as they truly are, deep down on the inside, where money and influence do not count.

He will be deeply missed, whether it was his funny sense of humor, his biting sarcasm, his laughter, or perhaps just his indifference that made his company so comfortable. Von was the best person to make a game plan with; nobody else was so willing to go anywhere, yet at the same time content to go nowhere.

He listened to people’s problems and fears without judgment, offering courage, encouragement, and at the very least, hope that anything could be overcome, if only we dared to try.

Von, we will forever miss you.. Your laughter, your voice, your conversations, your hugs, and your love. We will miss your constant mumbles and grumbles to yourself and to the world. We will even miss your sometimes erratic, always overly dramatic movements, and forever miss the soft hum of Christmas tunes in the middle of May and June.

Until we meet again, old buddy, my brother, our father, our kin. Until we meet again, may the sun forever shine upon your face. May the love of each of us help carry your soul to heaven, and may God forever hold you in the palm of His hand. May you always know how deeply we love you, and may you forever be the wind beneath our wings.

To those who loved him, here is a special note: there is no doubt that Malon Devon Agent Jr. is at peace now, with no worries and no doubts. He is at peace in the sweet embrace of his mom and dad. Amy is holding Hope in her arms, both smiling brightly. She is waving with that big smile of hers as Todd and Marley breakdance to Egyptian Lover and DaRude, while Kim and Bobby watch over them and all of us. They are patiently awaiting the arrival of each of us in our due time.

Malon Devon Agent Jr.’s Celebration of Life will be held on January 18, 2026, at the home of his adoptive parents, Woodrow and Peggy Shumock, located at 13600 Roy Miller Rd., Grand Bay, AL 36541, from 3:00 p.m. until. Dinner will be served at 4:30 p.m., followed by a prayer service and story sharing. All who knew and loved him are invited to attend.
