Mandie Ashford Obituary

Mandie Loreen Ashford, 87, was born April 25, 1936 in Weir, MS to Alberta Kirkwood Miller and Thomas Miller. She gained her wings on September 21, 2023 in Pascagoula, MS. Mandie was a resident of Moss Point for over 50 years.

Loreen was very well loved and respected in her community. She worked at Gulf City Fishery for over 30 years where she later retired from. She had a very strong passion for gardening and planted one each year until her early 80’s. She was always very big on family and made sure we came together every Sunday as a family for dinner. She didn’t meet any strangers, and anyone that ever came to her house hungry always left full. She was always willing to give to anyone in need. She was a faithful member of Christian Love Church of The Living God until her health failed. Her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was unmatched. She had a very big heart and left lots of love with everyone she encountered. We all love her dearly and she will truly be missed, but God loves and needs her more.

She was preceded in death by her husband Billy Ashford; mother Alberta Kirkwood Miller and her father Thomas Miller; her sisters, Levora Baber and Mary Alice (Edward); her brothers, Willie Miller, Luther Miller, Andrew Miller and Tommie Lee Miller.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: four sons, Willie Ashford of Moss Point, MS, Jimmie Ashford of Atlanta, GA, J.C. Ashford of Moss Point, MS, and Tommie (Shaconda) Ashford of Escatapawa, MS; one daughter, Bertha Ashford-Pugh of Gautier, MS; one sister Annie Jane Miller Turner of Ashtabula, OH; 15 grandchildren, 25 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; devoted friends, Minnie Moody, Joyce Nelson, Clara Dixon, Lineatha Williams, Willie Mae Kline and Helen Brown; devoted caregivers, Joyce Jones and Comernerce Payton; Pastor and Godson Rev. Arthur Graham; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
