Mildred Louise Donohoo, age 95, was called to her eternal home on February 9, 2026, in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Born on February 28, 1930, in Steens, Mississippi, to Marvin and Leona Donohoo, Mildred lived a life defined by an unwavering faith in God and a profound sense of purpose.
Mildred was a child of the Great Depression, an era that forged her "rock-solid" character and tireless work ethic. As a young woman, she worked the fields of Mississippi picking crops before graduating from Moss Point High School in the mid-1940s.
Driven by a desire to care for others, she moved to Metairie, Louisiana, where she dedicated her career to serving as a nurse's aid at Baptist Hospital of New Orleans. Upon her retirement, she returned to her roots in Pascagoula, where she remained a pillar of strength and belief for all who knew her.
Mildred was known for her "woman of purpose" mindset. She was never shy about sharing her convictions, and her journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to her beliefs. Beyond her professional and spiritual life, Mildred had a spirited personality and a deep love for animals—especially her dog, Benjie, and her cat, whom she was famously known to walk on a leash through the streets of Pascagoula.
Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Marvin and Leona Donohoo; her sister, June Donohoo Broadus; her brother-in-law, Jerry Broadus; her brother-in-law, Freeman Martin; two nephews, Dale and Darryl Broadus; one niece, Pat Martin; and a great-nephew, Adam Martin.
She is survived by her sister, Bobbie Donohoo Martin; 14 nieces and nephews and their loving spouses; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
