Throughout his professional life, he exhibited a strong work ethic and dedication across a variety of roles, earning the respect of his colleagues. His career included positions at Frig-a-Tech at Ingalls Shipyard, Carver Village Apartments as a maintenance man, Cold Storage as a helper, LaFont Inn as a houseman, and Kentucky Fried Chicken as a cook. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, Clara Bow (Isadore) Fluker and James Crump; his grandparents, Mollosso Faucha and Knox Johnson; and his brothers, Rodney Johnson and Bobbie Johnson.
Mr. Johnson’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his loving son, Spencer Garrett of Moss Point, and his two devoted bonus daughters, Dalonda Covan of D'Iberville and Jennifer Covan of Gautier.

He is survived by his siblings: Derek (Margaret) Johnson of Moss Point, Rickey (Garnett) Johnson of Moss Point, Barbara Shelton of Pascagoula, Vickey Dailey of Pascagoula, and Angela Johnson of Pascagoula. Mitchell was known for his easygoing spirit, his ability to connect with others, and his love for entertaining family and friends on his front porch. His active life included a passion for dancing, playing basketball, and participating in other sports. He will be deeply missed by a multitude of friends, including Red Michael, Tracy Gibson, Linda Kimble (Shank), and countless others whose lives he touched.
