Richard Bernstein Obituary

Richard “Dick” Bernstein, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 11th, 2021. Dick was the beloved husband of Pat Bernstein, who preceded him in death in 2019. He was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1934 and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean War. Dick worked at Ingalls Shipbuilding until he retired in 1994.

Survivors include Dick’s sister Joanie Antelo, half-brother Walter Warner, daughter Diane Bennett, son Richard P. Bernstein, step-daughter Ava Mire, step-sons J.B. Conant, and Michael Schooley. Dick leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many friends from his years on the coast he called “the most beautiful place in the world.”

For the last couple of years, Dick’s only wish was to “join Pat” and he joked that his only need was “the winning numbers to the lottery.” Per his wishes, his ashes will be combined with Pat’s and scattered in a special place. Memorial donations may be made in Richard Bernstein’s name to the charity of your choice.
