√Mr. Roy Cherry, age 64, a resident of Pascagoula, Mississippi, passed away on May 27, 2025. Roy had a lifelong dream of becoming a commercial fisherman, which he finally fulfilled. He also had the opportunity to showcase his cooking talents by preparing meals for the crew members, often using his own unique recipes. Roy was a remarkable person who never gave up on his "game plan", as he called it. He enjoyed attending church and believed that in his later years, God was guiding him to help and care for his family, as well as assist as many people as he could, as long as God allowed him to do so. Roy's mission is now completed.
Roy was preceded in death by: his parents, Avance and Isabelle Cherry; brothers, Kevin Cherry and Michael Cherry; a niece, Lateisha Cherry; and four uncles, John Thomas Brown, Eugene Brown, Alford Brown, and Earnest Brown.
He is survived by: four siblings, his sister, Michele Simpson, Dearl (Anneice) Cherry, Bruce Cherry, and Doug Cherry, all of Moss Point, MS; devoted companion, Bridget Thompson; his bonus children, Shawanda, Christopher, and Thomas Thompson; devoted friends, Lori Goree and Archie Williams; seven grandchildern; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.
