Stephen J. Crenshaw, 55, passed away at home on May 26, 2026. He was born in Pascagoula, MS, on February 8, 1971, and graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1989. Stephen dedicated over 30 years of service to the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in May 2025.
He shared a lifelong love of music that truly began in his mother’s womb, as she sang to him throughout her entire pregnancy. After he was born, he would cry whenever she tried singing traditional lullabies, but would fall fast asleep the moment she sang "Stairway to Heaven." His musical tastes spanned a wide variety of genres, from classical to heavy metal. He loved attending live concerts and was thrilled to see one of his favorite artists, Alison Krauss, just a couple of weeks ago—happily enjoying every minute of the performance in the pouring rain. Following his recent retirement, he found joy in watching movies and snuggling on the couch with his beloved dogs, Abbie and Heidi.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen L. Crenshaw and Wanda McKenzie Privett; his maternal grandparents, William and Elizabeth McKenzie; his paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Dorothy Crenshaw; his brother, Jeremy Privett; his mother-in-law, Mary Beard; and his childhood friend, Vince Tagert.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife, Shanon Ballow Crenshaw; his aunts and uncle, Donna McKenzie, Sandi Pierce, Ann Willis, and David (Lynn) McKenzie; his father-in-law, Roland (Nancy) Ballow; stepfather, Robert Privett; his brother, Jesse (Annel) Privett; and his sister-in-law, Allison (Andrew) Soine. He also leaves behind his nieces, Tess Soine, Grace Soine, and Selina (Brett) Killmer and their children Alex, Ethen, and Emery; his nephew, Seth Jacob; his cousins, Tony Laukhart, Kacee (Dean) DeMers, Kris (Jennifer) McKenzie, Kyle (Michelle) McKenzie, Jacqueline (Zea) Willis, and Julia Willis; his childhood friends, Carlton Martin, Jody Willis, Alex Walker, and Robert McGovern; and special friends, Bob, Stephanie, and Brady Maggard.
