Susie Ann Thomas
“Always loving, always loved.”
Susie Ann (Harris) Thomas went home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 10, 2020. Susie was born on February 24, 1936 in Little Rock, MS to Aubrey and Lorene Harris. She was the middle child between her brother, Jack, and sister, Margaret, who predeceased her. She grew up and graduated from high school in Newton, MS, where she met her husband, William E. Thomas, to whom she was married until his passing in 2011. She was also preceded in death by two children, Lisa Ann Thomas, and Teresa Sue Casey. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Mark) L. Davidson and son, William H. Thomas, and her granddaughter, Lisa J. Harrison, who she raised from birth. She also leaves behind grandchildren Dakota Davidson, Paul G. Casey, III, Jessica Henry, Jennifer Casey and Jami Casey, and 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, to whom she was their loving “Aunt Susie,” including her devoted caregiver for these past several months, Diane Davenport.
Susie and Bill were residents of Gautier for 63+ years, and were a big part of youth baseball, peewee football, and softball. She could be found for years either in the press-box keeping score, working in the concession stand, or cheering from the bleachers. She also worked for the only dermatologist between Mobile and Gulfport, Dr. W J Manuel, for more than 30 years. Susie and Bill always supported their children’s and grandchildren’s school and sports activities, and there are many kids who thought of them as their second grandparents. Her home and heart were always open to kids- “Nana” will be missed by all who knew her.
