William Joseph "Joe" Culpepper, a devoted servant of the Lord, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, completed his earthly service and was welcomed home by Jesus on Monday, October 13, 2025. He was 94 years old.
Born on March 8, 1931, Joe made a profession of faith to serve his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at an early age—a commitment that guided his entire life.
Joe’s life was defined by unwavering service, whether to his country or his community. He proudly served as a sailor in the U.S. Navy and later served as a soldier in the U.S. Army. He also served throughout his life as a pastor, engineer, uncle, and friend.
When asked about his most important accomplishment, Joe humbly replied, "the ability to serve his Lord, to provide for his family, and to minister to his community and show unconditional love to all."
Joe, or "PapPaw," was a gentle soul, a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was always with compassion, love, understanding, and grace. His greatest joy was gathering with his family for a meal, especially for ice cream and dessert. He never wavered from his truth.
He shared 65 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife which preceded him in death, Betty Culpepper. Together, they raised four children and were blessed to see four generations of Culpepper’s.
Joe is survived by their children and grandchildren, Dr. William "Joel" (Nancy) Culpepper and grandson Adam Wesensten; Clayton (Renee’) Culpepper and grandchildren Cristena (Chris) Wierson and Dalton (Chloe) Culpepper, and Ozzy; David Culpepper and grandchildren Ryan Culpepper, Kayden Culpepper, and Joel (Natasha Johnson) Culpepper, and Gabe Gonzales; Delesa Culpepper and grandchildren Brandon (Oliva Schoenberger) Walters and Dr. C. Ashton Walters-Tierney (Scott).
Joe also leaves behind his honorary family: Mike, Laura, and Nikki Hankins and Ellis Gordon.
