Mr. William Earl Hunt, age 71, was a resident of Moss Point, MS that passed away on April 15, 2024, while surrounded by family. William Earl Hunt worked at Halter Marine Shipyard for 38 years, where he was known as a humble and quiet man. He was an ardent sports fan who loved all kinds of sports, with his favorite teams being the Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Bulls, and the Orioles. William also enjoyed visiting local flea markets to search for wooden sculptures and sports memorabilia. His fur babies, WooWoo, Prince William, Mylo, and MoCo, held a special place in his heart. William was a member of the Monarchs Class of 1971.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eula (Frank) Jones and Flanders Sherrod, Sr.; two brothers, John Wayne Hunt and Byron Sherrod; sister, Stella (Hunt) Collins, son, Marlon Morris, I.
William leaves to cherish his memories to his wife of 50 years, Gloria Jean Hunt; three daughters, Lela & Kristy Hunt of Moss Point, MS, and Ebonnee Hunt of Pascagoula, MS; three grandchildren, Marlon (Tamela) Morris, II of Ocean Springs, MS, Elyse Lawson of Pascagoula, MS, and Miriam Morris of Gautier, MS; two great-grandchildren, Serena and Serenity Morris of Ocean Springs, MS; a devoted maternal aunt, Mattie Lee Harrison of Pascagoula, MS; sisters, Shelia and Teresa Sherrod of Moss Point, MS and Kala (Born) Smith Hampton, VA; brothers, Donnis (Margaret) Jones of Moss Point, MS, Tyrone (Sunny) Sherrod of Tacoma, WA, Flanders O'Neal Sherrod & Jerome Sherrod of Las Vegas, NV, Jason (Shervonne) Sherrod of Moss Point, MS, Maurice (Awilda) Sherrod of Atlantic City, NJ, Thomas (Paula) Jones of St. Louis, MO, Cedric Taylor of Moss Point, MS, Jarrod Fountain of Moss Point, MS; nephew, Brian Mosely of Pascagoula, MS; two devoted cousins, Cheryl Hunt of Decatur, GA and Frances Hunt-Burress of Bonaire, GA; and a host of aunts, cousins, classmates and anyone who may have loved him.
