William Rankins III, a resident of Moss Point, Mississippi, was born on September 27, 1962, in Pascagoula to William Rankins Jr. and Georgia Mae Rankins. He was the youngest of five children, affectionately known as the "baby" of the family. William graduated from Moss Point High School in 1982 and had a strong work history. He worked as a hull welder for Ingalls Shipbuilding before transitioning to a career in roofing with Dobson Roofing, where he remained until his health began to decline. In his free time, he found joy in visiting the casino with his nephew, Robert Abrams.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia Mae and William Rankins Jr.; his brother, Robert Rankins; his son, William Martin; and his grandparents, William and Fannie Rankins and Sonny and Rose Daily.
He is survived by his brother, Johnny Rankins; his sisters, Karen (Willie Frank) Gary, Willie Mae Kirkland, and Linda Kirkland; and his sister and devoted caregiver, Mary Abrams. He is also remembered by his grandchildren, JaNautica Martin, Triston Carter Martin, and Kaiden Martin; his great-grandson, Symphony Carter; his nieces, Tiffany (Ollie) Chambers, Tracy Chambers, and Wendy Abrams; and his nephews, Robert Abrams, Marcus Triplett, and Steve Abrams. Additionally, he leaves behind special friends Mark Richardson, Marilyn and Greg Vaxter, Gerald Abrams, and Robert Abrams. He will be greatly missed by a host of other relatives and friends.
