William Robert “Bob” Scott, age 69, died unexpectedly of natural causes on February 18, 2020 at his home in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Bob was born January 27, 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee, the only child of Mary Nell McCoy and William Carson Scott. A graduate of Middleton High School, Bob studied Business Administration, and Liberal Arts at the University of Tennessee. He was a decorated veteran of the Viet Nam War and earned many medals. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal presented for sustained acts of heroism or meritorious service. He received a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts degree from Regent’s (Excelsior) College in December of 1999.
Bob was a claims adjuster for a large insurance company in Boston. He also worked as an assistant at Harvard University before relocating to San Antonio and later Phoenix. He took time off to care for his father back home in Middleton, Tennessee. He moved to Biloxi and eventually settled in Ocean Springs where he enjoyed the beach and fishing.
Raised in the Methodist church, Bob could quote scripture and at one time aspired to be a minister. He loved his cat Rocky and fostered many feral cats. He was young in spirit and took dance lessons in Mobile, Alabama.
We will always carry his memory in our hearts.
Bob is survived by his Aunt Billie Jean McCoy Kornegay of Fort Worth, five cousins, and many dear friends and neighbors. Bob is preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
