Winford "Big Al" Patterson Obituary

Winford Allen “Big Al” Patterson, 69, of Vancleave, MS passed away and entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at his home.

Mr. Patterson was born on September 12, 1951, to Floyd Thaxton and Doris Mae Patterson.  He was a self-employed general contractor providing construction services to South Mississippi.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter who could call a turkey from miles away.  He was also a veteran of the MS Army National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Thaxton Patterson, Sr. and Doris Mae Pouncey Clark; and one sister, Susan Patterson Moore.

He is survived by one son, Paul Allen Patterson of Vancleave, MS; one daughter, Candie Patterson Graham (Craig) of Sumrall, MS; three grandchildren, Trenton, Trevor, and Harlee-Grace Graham all of Sumrall, MS; three brothers, Floyd “Buddy” Patterson, Jr. of Starkville, MS and Richard and John Clark both of Sumrall, MS; and two sisters, Becky Cucullu of Poplarville, MS and Beth Patterson of Gulfport, MS.

Big Al’s wishes were to be cremated, so his ashes will be spread at his favorite hunting spot at a later date.  A memorial service will be delayed, and the family will notify loved ones when the service is scheduled.
